As we navigate through the hustle of university life, it's never too late to hit pause and reflect on something crucial β our interpersonal skills.
π I've had heart-to-hearts with numerous graduates, and guess what?
85% wished they started honing skills like effective listening, communication, and relationship-building earlier.
In the university bubble, relationships seem to thrive effortlessly.
Classes together, events together β life seems communal.
But here's the catch: the real world operates differently.
Friendships fade post-internship or graduation due to gaps in communication, negotiation, and understanding the value of giving time to whatever is tagged as valuable.
So, here's my gentle nudge for you: leverage the information overload around usπ
We hear about these skills daily, but how many of us truly internalize and apply them?
Beyond technical prowess, soft skills are the secret sauce to staying relevant in any field.
Start small.
1. Engage in a fresh conversation with a coursemate, departmentmate, or a fellow service unit mate.
2. Then you can practice listening effectively during your conversations.
3. Get regular feedback from your colleagues and friends (even the people youβre not so close to but, you come across them daily).
These seemingly tiny steps can go a long way in building your interpersonal and social skills.
Remember, it's not about reinventing yourself overnight, but gradually becoming the best version of yourself.
πΌ Let's embark on this journey together.
