I recently put out a poll about “whines.”
Two days ago, while lying on my bed, the thought hit me hard.
The question was simple:
Whose whines hit home or get to you the most?
The winning response? Your inner circle.
It makes sense. Your inner circle knows a lot about you. Their whines can feel intrusive, yet oddly sweet and hilarious. They know just enough to press your buttons—but also to make you laugh. Compared to an acquaintance or passerby, their words carry weight because they have context.
Stay with me.
Now, flip it to hypes.
Who gives the sweetest, most meaningful hype? Your close friends.
Why?
Because they’ve seen your growth, struggles, and wins beyond surface-level perception.
A joke about how you used to struggle with something five years ago hits differently when it comes from someone who walked that journey with you. Their words carry depth because they know.
Now, let’s take it even deeper.
Think about receiving a heartfelt, genuine compliment.
Who would move you to the core? A stranger or your best friend?
Of course, it’s the one who truly knows you.
And this is the same with our relationship with God.
Whines and Hypes are like Praise and Worship.
The most valuable, intentional praise to God comes from those who truly know Him.
Not just for the bread He gives, but for the Bread that He is. (This line slaps hard—IYKYK!)
The more intentional you are about knowing God,
The more intimate your worship becomes,
The more weighty your words feel to Him.
It’s why David could say:
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits" (Psalm 103:2).
David praised God not just because he was told to—but because he KNEW God personally.
Back to the point.
Intentionally build and grow your knowledge of God the same way you deeply understand your closest friend or relationship partner.
Because while people may come and go, He remains forever.
Take time to build it—every single day.
📌 Spend intimate time with Him. (Chat with Him in prayer.)
📌 Discuss those intricate and fragile matters with Him.
📌 Read, study, and meditate on the Breath of Life—His Word.
I felt led to share this with you today.
Now over to you:
What other ways do you use to connect and learn more about God? Drop them in the comments. Let’s grow together.
With much love,
Anthony.
Wonderful Anthony
